About Alamo, Danville & Diablo | | | | A Historic Cemetery In Alamo
Alamo is a wonderful little town--both charming and historic. Alamo is the most tranquil and "off the beaten path" area in the San Ramon Valley Community. It adjoins Danville and Walnut Creek, and remains one of the least populated towns, hosting fewer residences than most of the other towns in Contra Costa County, so there's a true country feel to the area. The year 1852 marked the San Ramon Valley's first post office and the only post office between Martinez and Mission San Jose. Most of the homes are located on l/2 acre properties that were once orchards and wheat fields. It boasts the steepest paved road in Contra Costa County, which is Castle Crest Road. It climbs a third of Mt. Diablo's west face, rivaling Filbert Street in San Francisco. RoundHill Country Club boasts Alamo' heavily landscaped terrain and valleys provide seclusion and serenity for residents enjoying a quieter pace of living in the area. Community activities center around the two shopping centers across from one another in the middle of town. There, you'll find just about everything you need! | | | | Shopping In Danville Is A Pleasantly Unique Experience!

Remodeling and Renovations >Remodel Or Move
Your family has outgrown your home but you have roots in the community that make it difficult to leave. Is remodeling the solution?
Get professional advice before you jump into a major renovation project. Decide what changes you want to make, and get bids from several contractors. When you have an estimate on the cost of the project, talk to your real estate agent to determine if these changes will be cost-effective. Over-improving your home may make it difficult to get your money back if you sell it soon.
It is a good idea to talk with friends who have remodeled to get a realistic picture about working with contractors and to determine how disruptive the project will be to your family life. Remodeling a home is a major undertaking, so be sure that it is the best solution for you.
